That Which is Greater

My sisters and I have been doing Bible Study, via conference call, every week for almost a year now; so during this pandemic. Recently, we have started studying the parables of Jesus, and there have been some that have stuck with me. One is Luke 8:16: “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light".

I have been hiding my light! I screamed that by the way. I HAVE BEEN HIDING MY LIGHT! In trying so hard to be politically correct, my light was dimming. As you know, I was having my first women's conference last April (2020), but I cancelled it due to the pandemic. In preparing for this event, I made it a point to remind myself that I couldn't/shouldn't mention Jesus or God because I didn't want to offend anyone or it would be bad for business. But recently I thought to myself that I was hiding my "That Which is Greater" while telling others to embrace theirs. I was not allowing myself to love God out loud or to share that Jesus loves me. Yes, me! He shows me this everyday in the sunrise, the sunset, and in the in-between. I hold steadfast to His love, grace, mercy and forgiveness.

I found myself telling people that I am not religious, as in (for me) not conforming to a specific religion, but that I am spiritual. This is still true. My spirituality is that light. In showing love, kindness, and forgiveness, I am able to show others my "That Which is Greater", my God. When/If we hide who we are, others can't see our light, our greatness, our spirit, our soul!

Your "That Which is Greater" or "Higher Power" might be Buddha, Allah, the Universe, the Ancestors, etc. But no matter what or who that is, you are being made into a better person; you are opening yourself up to the possible, not the impossible; you are embracing all that is within you; and you are letting your light shine! DO NOT HIDE YOUR LIGHT! SHINE IT BRIGHT!
